Shell : Architecture

I was devouring a few books at Le Centre Pompidou this afternoon, and I (perhaps by divine intervention) came across a book of days by the American composer John Cage... The first quote in the book was this:

"What is the sound that's heard when a conch shell is held to an ear? Does it originate in the shell? Or is it an outside sound that went all the way in and came back out transformed?"

As much as I would like to say I planned this... it all happened by chance.
